Book Review: If He Had Been With Me By Laura Nowlin

Plot:

If he had been with me everything would have been different…

I wasn’t with Finn on that August night. But I should’ve been. It was raining, of course. And he and Sylvie were arguing as he drove down the slick road. No one ever says what they were arguing about. Other people think it’s not important. They do not know there is another story. The story that lurks between the facts. What they do not know—the cause of the argument—is crucial.

So let me tell you…

Review:

This novel made my eyes water.

Two women besties have babies around the same time. A boy and a girl. Anyway after like 10-12 years of life both of the kids enter middle school and that is when they begin to drift. One is popular and one isn’t.
After a good few years apart and the girl (Autumn) is dumped by her shitty boyfriend that is what it takes to rekindle their friendship and discover their feelings towards each other.

Based on the title we already know the boy Phineas is dead. IT WAS SO HEARTBREAKING! But he will live on. Some reviews spoiled this however I am not doing that.

4/5 Stars
